Asked for the second time: I heard the Gardasil HPV shot causes infertility (you can't have children)?

has anyone gotten pregnant successfully after being injected with it (over a year ago preferably)?

I got my first dose a few days ago (i'm 14) but I'm still scared out of my mind my doctor was being pushy and saying that it was a great vaccine and blah blah blah and she sounded reassuring at that time :[

Who told you that, or what web site did you read it on? It's a scare tactic of the worst kind.

The vaccine does NOT cause infertility.

The vaccine reportedly contains Polysorbate-80, which is rumored to cause infertility in rats. I could not track down the source of the rumor, but Polysorbate-80 is in most vaccines as a "surfactant" that helps the vaccine dissolve. It's in ice cream! It's in eye drops!

I've spilled the concentrated stuff on my hands ... it's a highly purified kind of soap or detergent commonly used in labs.

What these sites are doing is picking an ingredient, ignoring how much is in the vaccine, and reporting out the worst possible information they can find.

It''s like claiming that french fries are dangerous because they contain something made of a toxic gas and a poisonous explosive metal ... NaCL (Sodium Chloride ... pure sodium is dangerous and chlorine is a toxic gas)

It's like claiming oranges are dangerous because they have formaldehyde!

Adding: I tracked down what appears to be the source of the rumor that Polysorbate-80 causes infertility:

In 1993, neonatal female rats were injected with Tween 80 in 1, 5 or 10% aqueous solution on days 4-7 after birth. Each rat was injected with 0.1 ml of the solution.

In comparison, the 0.5 ml of Gardasil vaccine contains 50 micrograms of polysorbate-80 ... far less.

The whole reason that the "Gardasil vaccine causes infertiliy" talk is going around is because this vaccine has only been studied for 3-4 years before it was released to the public which means that no long-term side effects are known yet. There have been many complaints about this vaccine such as death, seizures, and paralysis. Since the long-term side effects are unknown - absolutely anything can be possible which includes a woman become sterile. I'm not saying that this is going to happen, but the long-term side effects are unknown so there is a chance it could happen, but we will just have to wait until everyone who has been vaccinated starts having infertility problems in a few years. I would say think twice about being vaccinated and wait til this vaccine has been studied more and more importantly, wait until the long-term effects are known. I would honestly recommend that you do not get this shot because it has already been pulled of the market in Australia and is about to be in Canada. There have been too many deaths and too many major side affects. Since it works on the immune system and hormones there are suspicions it may cause sterility. I've attached a few links to this answer that I hope will help you make your decision about having the vaccine. Best of luck!

I have never heard anything about this vaccine causing infertility. Some people have had allergic reactions, but that is possible with any vaccine. If there was a serious risk of infertility they would never recommend this vaccine for women of childbearing years. Trust your doctor.
