I found out that i have strings of HPV, im a little nerous about the situation. can my husband catch HPV?

how often are you suspose to get an pap?? is it once a year, or every 6months??

If you have HPV then your doctor should have told you if it is low risk or high risk. If it is low risk then you may only get genital warts (which can be removed), if it is high risk then it puts you at risk for cervical cancer. Usually with high risk HPV they will send you for a Colposcopy, which is where they take a small piece of your cervix and biopsy it for cervical changes. The procedure doesn't take too long and is uncomfortable but doesn't hurt too bad. If they see anything they will let you know and tell you the next steps to take.
If they find any cell changes they may suggest doing cryotherapy, which is a procedure where they freeze off the bad cells. The cells will regrow normal and healthy and then they will do a repeat pap in a few months. Once you have HPV they will want to repeat paps every few months until you have a few that come back normal. Then you can continue to have the normal once a year paps.
The most important thing is to find out if it is low or high risk, and if it's high risk, get your tests done, the sooner the better, that way if you have anything, they'll catch it early and the earlier you catch it the earlier they can treat it and get rid of it. Just keep in mind HPV will be with you forever, it will become dormant after a while and won't be detected on a pap but you will still have it. Good luck.
Oh, and yes, your huband can get it, and he may already have it, there really aren't any tests for men right now though.

There are lots of different HPV strains -some cause warts and some can cause cervical cancer (or initially, change sin cervical cells, which is what a pap test detects. If anal intercourse is practised, an anal Pap test should also be done. The frequency of the tests will depend on your family history and your doctor's opinion of other possible risk factors.

Yes, your husband can catch HPV. If it's a wart causing type, he may develop warts. USUALLY these "clear" the body in years or less but it doesn't always happen. Even if cancer causing HPV does get cleared, cervical cells may have already been affected so listen to your doctor about testing. As for your husband getting cancer causing HPV, it is possible but very rare that penile cancer happens.

yes he can, but usually it doesn't affect males as it does females, and there is nothing that can really be done for the males who contract HPV. If you do have HPV, your doctor will let you know how often you should be screened for cervical cancer

let me ease u a little bit....when i found out i freaked....7 out of 10 women have it....it doesn't really harm guys unless u have the strain that causes genital warts....certain strains ur body can even fight off and kill....some strains cause cervical cancer. They are still researching this disease because they dnt know a lot about it....but if ur under 26....get the guardasil shot....cause even though u have it it could protect u against the more harmful strains
