2. test was hpv negative. Am I in the clear and immune now?

I got tested after the birth of my baby 2 years ago and it came back positive. All the paps were good though.

Today, the test turned out negative.
Does this mean that the virus has cleared? Could it still return? Am I eventually still contagious?
My doctor said that I had the high-risk strains when I was tested the first time.

I know there are many many different strains but I'm just talking about the ones I fought off.

As far as I thought you can't get rid of hpv but what the heck who knows?

Did they do the HPV pap smear test or just a regular pap smear? A pap smear will usually catch it but if you have an HPV pap smear its the most accurate to tell if its gone or not. Usually if you already had that strain it won't come back but a different strain might. Just be careful.

Ask your doctor if an HPV test was run. Most often an HPV test only follows a Pap that has shown abnormal cervical cell changes. Better, ask your doctor for a copy of your pathology report.

A single Pap may miss abnormal cell changes. A Pap smear looks for cervical abnormal cell changes. The HPV test confirms that the abnormal cell changes are one of the high risk HPV types.

After HPV goes into a quite state then replication does not occur. Our HPV test looks for viral load once the virus load is low then HPV is not seen in any test. If the reflex HPV was run then you are negative for high risk HPV viral load at this time. It may stay this way forever more鈥?br>
At this time your body is producing good antibodies to the virus. It is possible it can return if for some reason your body鈥檚 immune system weakens鈥his can occur due to age, do to stress.

Sadly no one can tell us we are 100% not contagious. HPV can show years down the road鈥?since it can reactivate鈥?we can transmit the virus
