Can HPV be mistaken for Herpes?

I know that there is something going on in my Vagina. I have these gross crazy bumps and I went to the female doctor to get them checked out. She didn't do anything except look at them and send me to a blood test. Is is possible that she could have been mistaken and that its not herpes but HPV?

I also have this weird rash that is forming on my neck? can they be the same thing?

The blood test will be more definitive because you were likely tested for both. Google pictures of herpes and HPV warts and see if what you have matches anything on there. Or wait until you get your results back. I'm not sure about the rash on your neck...

If she mentioned herpes, it could very well be. HPV causes genital warts, both exteriorly and interiorly, but, in most cases, do not look like herpes. Googling pictures of herpes, however, is not a good idea because its frightening: They give you the worst case scenarios AND everyone's are capable of looking very different from another's. I'm sure she took a pap smear as well, and that will determine if you have HPV. The blood test will determine if you have herpes, and hopefully distinguish the type (1 or 2). I have no idea why you have a rash on your neck =\

You can get blister type things with HPV, but if you had that then your Ob/Gyn would have told you that your pap smear came back positive. The rash may or may not be related. Get the tests done, don't overreact or you will cause something else. Go to www.webmd.com and do some research. You may not get the right answers you are looking for on here, unless a doctor stops in to answer some ?'s.....

1. Myth: I'm the only person I know with HPV.

It's easy to understand why so many people hold this misunderstanding about HPV. After all, public awareness of the virus is extremely low. Most people who contact ASHA's HPV Support Program never even heard of HPV until they were diagnosed.

2. Myth: Only people who have casual sex get STDs.

Even with up to 12 million Americans contracting an STD each year, many people continue to believe that only "someone else"--for example, people who have multiple partners, sex outside of marriage, or a different lifestyle--are at risk.

If she gave you a blood test, the results should answer your question.
