In most cases, is HPV cleared within two years?

"The HPV virus itself cannot be treated, but often the body will clear HPV infection on its own. In most women, cervical HPV infection clears on its own within two years of detection"

That is from WEBMD.COM

My gynecologist said that recent studies have proved that in 91% of cases, the immune system completely clears the virus in two years or less.

It would take a little longer, though, for the other 9 % to clear it.

I went to three gynecologists and they all said the same thing. I got HPV from a sexual assault.

Why do so many people on answers tell me that the virus is "forever" and it will be in my body for the rest of my life. Are they misinformed?

Someone even had the nerve to say I was "in denial" because I listened to what the doctor told me.

They are saying it because it's POSSIBLE for it to be there forever, and people are talking worst case scenario when they say it's forever. There's a lot of worst case scenario teaching in the world of sex ed.--a combination of the influence of puritans who don't want anyone to have extramarital sex so make the consequences seem dire, and schoolteachers who want people to be safe in a situation in which people are often not using their big head to do their thinking. So to get any thought at all to penetrate their minds in a moment of passion, they emphasize the potential disasters.

I'm sorry to hear about your sexual assault, and I hope you become free of the virus!

People on here are wrong.
