Can HPV clear on its own?

It was previously thought that once an individual contracted HPV, they had it for life. However, recent and groundbreaking studies have found that in the vast majority of cases of HPV, 91%, the virus clears on its own in two years. This is because the immune system usually fights off the virus in that time period in people that have adequate immune systems (Those that are not compromised from cancer, HIV, etc.)

This is accepted knowledge in the medical community. I have seen prestigious health organizations that explain that on their official pamphlets.

I contracted HPV from a sexual assault. I was so depressed about it. People on answers kept giving me depressing answers and saying it is "forever" and I will have it for life.

I was so worried that I went to see THREE gynecologists. They all said the same thing: In 91% of cases, it is completely cleared in two years.

yes it can "resolve itself" UNLIKE herpes and aids it doesnt hide and your immune system CAN fight it off. My doctor told me about it. I also looked it up. I was diagnosed with HPV about 2 years ago, I had one abnormal pap, and ever SINCE then it has been normal. It CAN LIE DORMANT, but in most cases IT DOES clear itself up.......and not all of us are idiots

HPV, like herpes, is a virus. You might never have an outbreak or experience warts, but you will always carry the virus. So no, people that say that aren't ignorant...it seems that you might be in denial or misinformed. You should be trying to find out all the information that you can about this disease since it can have such a deadly affect on you and your life.

The gaurdasil shot can help prevent HPV, but I dont think it works if you already have HPV. No one knows what cures they might come up with in the future, but you need to know that there is a difference between cures and treatments.

Go to this website (hpv.emedtv.com/hpv/high-risk-hpv.html) for more info on HPV and the various strains of the virus. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!

HPV Treatment: Is There an HPV Cure?
Infection with HPV virus (human papillomovirus) is very common. About 20 million people in the U.S. are affected. About 30 of the 100 HPV types are transmitted sexually. This HPV transmission can cause genital warts or abnormal cell changes in the cervix and other genital areas that can lead to cancer.

I think you always have it, but the symptoms and what not may go away and never come back, if that makes sense to you.

yes it can clear itself. like the other girl said, you can afterwards get normal paps back. btw, im not an idiot either>>lol
