I have HPV questions?

My mom had cervical cancer and I was wondering if the HPV/\cancer that she had could be passed on to me through child birth? And if I was to get tested for HPV do you do a blood, pap or both? And if I got cancer does that mean I couldn't have kids? How long before I develop cancer?

sorry. What I meant was my mom had HPV and then I think about 7 or 8 years later after she had me she developed cervical cancer and had a hysterectomy. Since my parents are still married I'm assuming she had it before she gave birth to me.

what I was wondering is if i got cervical cancer would I need my uterus out or could i have kids.

thanks!!!

Nataly,

The would do a pap smear then if it came up abnormal they would take a sample of your cervix. If cancerous tissue was found they'd kill the tissue and just have check ups like twice a year. and thats that. no worries mate!

only when the growth gets out of hand is when they remove the uterus altogether and then it impairs you obviously for having kids. Chances are it wasn't passed on to you!

it is possible that HPV can be passed on but if your claiming that she had cervical cancer, there is no way that the cancer can pass through birth. You would need to get blood work and a pap just to make the chances a better one. And your answer for cervical cancer and not being able to have kids is a contradication with your own question hun.....your mother had you didnt she! lol.... and there is not an estimation on how long it would take many cancers are dorment and will appear whenever they please.....advice just get tested!
