My friend and I are in a debate... about HPV. Someone please help!?

Ok HPV is a virus... and virus' cannot be cured. My friend say that HPV can be cured but if it's a virus how is that possible. I thought that it could just go dormant. Some please help me understand this... I do not mind being wrong but I also do not want my friend to be naive. She does have cancer cells from it but she told me that they are benign. She also told that 75% of women in the US have HPV. She said she looked this up. Although when I looked it up it only said around 15 %. Can someone give me any info. I do not know that much about it other than the little bit that I have found. I am just really scared that my friend is not taking this as seriously as she should. Thanks for your help!

It cannot be cured but as it only usually affects a small area it can often be removed (not always though).

HPV itself is not harmfull - it is when it develops into cancer that you need to worry. As long as you go for regular pap smears then you should eb fine.

It is a virus but if you are healthy it can go dormant after about two years. It can go dormant and show so little that when tested for it it can show up negative.

HPV is very common in both men and women so the fact that 75% of women have it would not surprise me in the slightest.
