HELP! does someone with HPV or Herpes take Acyclovir? |
OMG im freaking out. My friend is dating a guy who was honest enough to tell her that he had HPV. My friend and I were at his house earlier today and I noticed that he takes a drug called Acyclovir. When I got home, I googled it, and 100 websites popped up for this drug for people with HERPES not HPV .. now my question is does someone with HPV take Acyclovir and why? now personally, I think hes lying to my friend telling her he has HPV, because herpes is alot worse. Is this idiot lying to my friend? He could have both. OR, he could just have the HPV--which the only way to treat this in males is removing the warts it causes. He'll still have the virus in his system and can pass it on without having symptoms. Acyclovir is used for herpes, not HPV--but there are two different types of herpes (oral and genital), and if he has oral herpes, he might not necessarily consider that an STD. Don't jump to conclusions! No, he is not lying. He does have HPV. I don't think he would lie about that, but chances are he does have Herpes AS WELL. They can both be transmitted sexually, but I think that HPV is worse. Strains of this virus are responsible for cervical cancer. I would suggest to your friend that dependent upon her age ( max 26)she should get vaccinated with Gardasil to protect her from the virus and she should always use a condom if........ Acyclovir, also called Zovirax is primarily used for treating Herpes symptoms. He is lying to your friend. Also, you are shady for snooping up in his medicine cabinet! j/k :) Anyway, tell your friend to dump him and get tested immediately for herpes and other stds. Actually HPV is worse, social stigma has made herpes seem worse than it really is, Acyclovir is for herpes, and he probably has both, but decided to tell her the worse one...probably because lots women have HPV. |
