HPV/Gardasil Vaccine ? Anyone had it ?

Just recently got my second ,and my arm is badly swollen and painful to move, anyone else had this side effect ?

You girls got off easy. My first shot I got in the butt. They said at that time it was the most effective. The 2nd one I go in the arm and the 3rd also in the arm. I got this when it first came out since almost every woman in my family has had cervical cancer. And it almost killed my mom. At the age of 16. Never had sex before I had abnormal cells after a paps test. Its so scary.
Yes it hurts like hell. I got super dizzy and had a fever. But its well worth it. My mom wasn't able to have any more kids. And at that point was looking into become a sergeant mother for other couples.
Read that cute little paper that comes with it. If you keep feeling horrible call your doctor.

Anyone who has ever had a life-threatening allergic reaction to yeast, to any other component of HPV vaccine, or to a previous dose of HPV vaccine should not get the vaccine. Tell your doctor if the person getting the vaccine has any severe allergies.

5. What are the risks from HPV vaccine?

HPV vaccine does not appear to cause any serious side effects.

However, a vaccine, like any medicine, could possibly cause serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions. The risk of any vaccine causing serious harm, or death, is extremely small.

Several mild problems may occur with HPV vaccine:

Pain at the injection site (about 8 people in 10)
Redness or swelling at the injection site (about 1 person in 4)
Mild fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit) (about 1 person in 10)
Itching at the injection site (about 1 person in 30)
Moderate fever (102 degrees Fahrenheit) (about 1 person in 65)
These symptoms do not last long and go away on their own.

Life-threatening allergic reactions from vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it would be within a few minutes to a few hours after the vaccination.

Like all vaccines, HPV vaccine will continue to be monitored for unusual or severe problems.

6. What if there is a severe reaction?

What should I look for?

Any unusual condition, such as a high fever or behavior changes. Signs of a serious allergic reaction can include difficulty breathing, hoarseness or wheezing, hives, paleness, weakness, a fast heart beat or dizziness.
What should I do?

Call a doctor, or get the person to a doctor right away.
Tell your doctor what happened, the date and time it happened, and when the vaccination was given.
Ask your doctor, nurse, or health department to report the reaction by filing a Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) form.
Or you can file this report through the VAERS web site at www.vaers.hhs.gov, or by calling 1-800-822-7967.

if this doesn't help contact your doctor.

Yes, i've had it. Ouch!!!

Although mine didn't swell up like that, it was a particularly painful injection.

Apparently, the trick is to keep your arm moving and it heals much faster.Fight the urge to keep it still (i know, it hurts less when it's not moving) and try to move it, at least a little bit.

see here:
there are approximately 2600 adverse event cases with gardasil and painful arm listings.

I had spasms in my arm after the third one. It was horrible. I was trying to do colorguard (that flag throwing thing in marching band) and I could not do it. My arm was all puffy and it hurt SUPER bad!!!

It's normal. It will go away in a little bit, like by tommorrow. :)

Yep, don't worry. The second one is the worst.
By the way...It helps if you actually move your arm. It may hurt at first, but it helps the vaccine to get through your bloodstream faster and makes the pain go away faster.

Yes, I got mine a year or so ago. They hurt way more than normal shots, but they beat the heck out of cancer.

I always get bad reactions to shots, and these were no different. It was really sore for a day or two, but then it felt fine.

Yes! I got my first one a few weeks ago, and i'm going back for my second in June! I coudn't move my arm at all. And then my boyfriend thought it would be nice to punch me in my arm, because he knew it was sore.

yeah! the second one definately hurts the most. i also got a fever with it. i know it totally kills to have to move your arm, but you should, because it'll increase circulation which will help it feel better. you should also try ice

yeah, my arm was a little bit painful and stiff for about a day, but it will probably go away by tomorrow. if not, you should see your doctor.

so much better than cancer, that's for sure though.

hey I'm supposed to get that vaccine until like a few more months man does it hurt to barley even move your arm !!

Put ice a little and don't move much ,and also take a cool shower/bath .

yes i know. the second one hurts even more!! not sure about the third one because i am still waiting for it!! getting it in a few weeks time!! put ice on it and try to move it around because it does help!!

I had it a few months ago and it mad my muscle kind or sore, due to the fluid under it. But swelling up sounds like an allergic reaction, so you should probably ask your doctor.

Is that the one to prevent cervical cancer.
If it is I've had my 1st and 2nd one and I was twelve when i had my first one. It doesn't hurt that much it just hurts a bit.

yer i had the hpv jab 2 times. and my arm was swollen sore and bruised for about the next week
no need to worry. its the usual thing (:

well 2morrow im getin my second shot and it just stings idk about it being swollen...never experienced but there shouldnt be any major side effect i asked my doc.

Yeah I had mine done a couple years back. Its normal. My arm hurt for a little over a week eveytime I got a shot. I'm not sure why, but its fine. It just sucks. lol

Yeah I got it.
It hurt like hell.

I still need to get the 3rd :(

I hate needles.
