Does the HPV strain that causes genital warts ever go away for good?

I hear different answers.. some say it stays in your body for a life time and others say that your immune system takes care of it and it goes away in 2 years.

No! It will stay in your body forever... People can be infected with HPV and never show any symptoms. Others will develop genital warts. These warts can stay the same size, grow, or go away on their own. It largely depends on the infected person's immune system. Within 2 years, the virus will be reduced to indectable levels in your body. Does it every fully go away? NO ONE KNOWS. The virus can be suppressed by your immune system after about two years and it wont show up in tests after that. However it could come back after a few years it all depends on the person

HPV never leaves your body completely. Your body may take care of the warts, but they can reoccur because you will still have the virus.

You live with it forever.
