Will a gynocologist see a man about HPV? |
Friend's ex says new girlfriend made him a appt with her obgyn and Dr told him that he does not have HPV. Although ex has not been with no one else. So would a obgyn see a man. I know I have never heard of such and they usually just refer them to a urologist. I was also told that there is no test for a man. My ex (who gave me HPV) didn't have any symptoms of the virus. When he went to the Dr the Dr. told him that if I have it then he has it and is just a carrier now, not necessarily (have to have leisunes to know you have HPV) saying he didn't have it because he didn't have anything. My ex now just has to stick with his yearly paps, use condoms, tell his partners and just make sure he doesn't see anything unusual down there. Also if you're partners are younger than 26 tell them they can get vaccinated to prevent from catching four of the top strands of HPV that can cause cervical cancer. Source(s): I have HPV, so does my ex. Well a gynocologist still has an M.D. just like any other doctor, so while it is outside their specialty, they could treat a man if they wanted to. It is unusual for one to see a man, and kind of pointless, since the gynocologist's speciality is focused on parts which men are lacking, however, depending on the doctor, one might see a man anyway, depending on the cirumstances and what the problem is. So yes, but rarely, is the short answer to your first question. There is currently no FDA approved HPV test for men, although genital warts are an indicator that you probably have it. Overall don't worry too much about it, it won't kill you except by maybe causing cancer, and there isn't a cure. Just make sure your girlfriends, and all women, get Pap Tests on a yearly basis up until around age 30, and after that, every few years. CDC You should ask that gynocologist.
