My ex girlfriend just tested positive for HPV. She told me she cheated on me with a stripper...*****. Since there is no test currently for me, do I have it also? I also understand that it will go away on its own for me, but how long? Do I need to tell my next girlfriend? I don't want to pass it on to anyone. It's always possible you contracted the virus from her, but, since there is no test for men it's basically impossible for you to know for sure if you have it or not. Most men find out they have HPV by developing warts from it. But, not everyone with HPV develops warts and it can take take several months or even years to develop them. So, they can have the virus and not even realize it. It's true that most people are able to get rid of HPV all on their own though. Their bodies can basically "fight off" the virus. This isn't true for everyone though. Some people will have the virus their entire life because there is no cure for HPV. And, since there is no test for men, it's pretty impossible for a guy to know if he got rid of it or not. You should tell any future partners you have. Even if you think you don't have it, or you possibly got rid of it, you should still tell them. Check out this link for more information: http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv-a... Good luck to you! Source(s): Personal experience. I have had HPV for 6 years. Hello, you will not know if you are positive until you do an HIV test. You need to stop sexual activity at least till you know your HIV status. My personal opinion is that sex should be practised only within marriage. That is the only solution to HIV/AIDS and other STDs. A proctologist can test for HPV. This testing is not currently approved by the FDA from this source, and will cost up to $150. HPV lies dormant for a while, so she may have been hosting it for a while. Most fight off the virus, and it is non detectable. If the virus is present when you are above age 30 and it is a high risk type (16, 18 or 45) then you need to be retested in 6 months. Lab experience. Almost everyone will have HPV at some point in their life, so don't go calling your girlfriend names! She may have gotten it from you! HPV is passed through skin-to-skin contact with genitals, sex doesn't even have to happen. Condoms don't protect against it. stick ur penis in vinegar if it turns white you have hpv..thats how the doctors are testing the female cervix....this would show only if it is active though not if it is dormant you do most likely have it...you are a carrier and you would pass it on to the next girl...the only way to not pass it on is to not touch anyone or have sex |
