I recently found out that i have HPV and my doctor decided to do a biopsy, is it possible that i have cancer?


I have to wait for 7days for the result and im really scared. What will i have to do if it comes out positive?

The biopsy is too make sure that you dont have cancer. If you do the procedure is not that bad. I had a friend who did it back in Feb and she came out fine. Just take it one day at time and wait till your get your results. I aslo have HPV and I had pre-cancerous cells. All they did was freeze the cells and remove them. It was such easy and fast procedure that I went to the gyno on my own to get it done. Its been 5yrs since and I haven't had any abnormal pap smear again. However I do the pap smear at least 2-3 times a year since I already had pre-cancerous cells and there is a history of cancer in my family. Better to be safe than sorry. Also talk to your gyno about getting the new vaccine Garadsil. I am actually getting in on Monday. If you are under 24 you are just on time. Good luck and dont worry your results will be negative. =)
The chances are slim but my daughter landed up having Stage 1 cancer. She caught it early. They cauterized the pre cancerous cells and then she was checked every 6 months for awhile. I hear from many woman who have gone through this. It is a precaution.
Don't be scared. There are over 50 HPV viruses out there, and there are only a couple of them that may cause cancer. If you were diagnosed wih the HPV virus, a doctor MUST do the biopsy, but it doesn't mean you have cancer. Those are just the rules and regulations that doctors follow. In the worst possible scenario, the virus might cause the changes to the cells of your cervix. These cells are called pre-cancerous and are very easy to treat. Even cervical cancer is very well treatable in the beginning stages. Just relax for now.
