How do men know if they have Hpv?Is there a kind of test to detect it (for men)? |
It seems there is no tests for men.And women get infected after having sex with a man which could lead to cancer for them.So is'nt it foolish to not have a test for men, who could pass on the virus unknowingly. If women get cancer thru Hpv, then definitely men will be having some kind of cancer or disease as well. But this seems to have been ignored unfortunately.. Hey Rodrick, Yes there is. It's basically the same test that women get. The reason that men aren't tested is that it won't cause the same terminal cancers that it can cause in women. Men also have a built-in warning system, although, few, if any know what they are looking at. In men, the first sign of an infection of HPV is genital warts. Whether they are Penile, Anal (Usually, even if they aren't Gay) or Oral. Men typically disregard these symptoms as "Cold Sores", "Pimples" or ingrown hairs. I agree that it has been ignored -- but as I said, the risks to men are minimal and with a normal immune system, a man is able to develop antibodies that keep it in a controlled "non-contagious" state, sometimes for many years. Like Herpes, this state can change depending on the male state of health (HIV, Stress, Herpes, Pneumonia or any form of cancer.). Sadly, like pregnancy, society has put this one on the women's front door. However, unlike pregnancy, this virus has caused many worldwide deaths and unless it is put into check, may soon be a leading cause of death among women. James From what I understand, there are many forms of hpv. Not all cause cancer, not all cause warts. Men can get warts, from some, and cancer from others. It is just not as common as it is in women. I think there is some test you can take. You should be able to call you doctors office, or one of those free clinics. consult your doctor/urologist if you feel something different. There is no approved HPV test for the male. HPV does not carry the same health burdens for the male as it does for the female.... Men do become silent carriers most often with no visible signs of caring the virus...cancer of the penis is rare. The Male role in Cervical Cancer: http://www.insp.mx/salud/45/eng/i45s3_5.... |
