What Happens when you test Positive for Hpv? |
I was just wondering if any one has any info or advice on hpv? Like if you tested positive and the doctors had to treat it how did/does it go?I'm 21 & my doctor recently told me I tested positive and I have to go back to take care of it and I'm scared. if they have to extract anything, I just don't want to be in alot of pain. And does that mean I can't be with other people even after I visit the doctor?does anyone have any advice on experience on this matter? HPV does not necessarily cause external warts. There is no way to tell if you are having an 'outbreak' unless you have gone to the OBGYN. You could potentially pass it on to any partner that you have, even when wearing a condom. Your OBGYN will most likely preform a colposcopy, in which he/she will use a light and scope to view your cervix. They will be looking for abnormal cell growth. They may also biopsy the cervix (remove a tiny portion of tissue for further study). For this, you will basically be unable to feel the tissue being removed. You will probably have thick red-black discharge after this procedure and should not have intercourse for at least a week after wards. Make sure that you ask your OBGYN any questions you may have. He/she should be a much better source than an internet site. I was diagnosed with HPV years ago. You will always carry the virus, however, you will not infect anyone if you do not have a break out. If you do have a break out and have sex, you will pass it. |
