I've just been diagnosed with high risk HPV. Can I still get pregnant?


I just was told I had high risk HPV a couple weeks ago. I haven't had a period since May 11 2006 and I'm trying to get pregnant. Am I still able to bear children of my own?

The HPV or human papilloma virus is a wart virus.

It can give rise to genital warts.

Yes. But you probably need to take care of a few things before you get pregnant. If you have high risk HPV it means that they found pre-cancerous cells on your cervix. You doctor will probably want you to come back and take a biopsy of the cervix. They will usually check you every 3-6 months for any changes. Make an appointment with your doctor to see if they need to do anything before you try to become pregnant.
talk to your doctor. I had hpv they did cryotherepy which caused mass scare tissue and had to have a c-section. Also take a pregnancy test to see if you r prego!
High risk HPV means you are at increased risk for developing cervical cancer. You need to get regular pap smears to check for that. HPV won't stop you from getting pregnant.

The fact that you haven't had a period since 5/11/06 is more of an issue with regards to that. Do you know why you haven't had a period in 3 months? Is this normal for you? If it is not normal, the number one cause for missed periods is being pregnant (have you checked?). If you are not pregnant, then not having periods means you aren't *going* to get pregnant. You and your doctor need to figure out why you aren't having regular periods.
