If I have mild dysplasia, do I have HPV?

I had an abnormal pap, so I went in and had a colposcopy done. My doctor called me today and confirmed that I had mild dysplasia, but said I didn't have any cancerous cells. She didn't say anything about me having HPV, but I read online somewhere that dysplasia is caused by HPV. Do I have HPV?

Almost all cervical dysplasia is caused by the HPV virus (4 specific types of the virus). I would say that you do have the HPV virus statistically - but you should ask your doctor to be sure as there are a couple of other conditions which could lead to precancerous (dysplastic) cells on the cervix.
