Is there ANY OTHER WAY to test for HPV besides going to a gyn.?

PLEASE only serious answers, and try to refrain from even just the term gyn....i use the word vagi-doctor :)!
Aaanyways, I just spoke with my brother and he told me he cheated on his girl, godt it from a GUY, and gave it to his girlfriend. She's pretty much my sister-they've dated for about 6-7 yrs. Now they're split, and I'm questioning myself. No symptoms, or any type of feelings I would have it/anything else, but I want to be sure. I guess you just never know these days, so I should find out for sure, while I'm single. I'm not having sex with anyone, and won't be having it till I find out I'm in the clear.

I, for reasons I won't get into, simply can't bite the bullet and go to "that" type of doctor again. I just cant. What about peeing in a cup, or a blood test??? PLEASE HELP ME! I FOUND THIS OUT 5 MINS AGO AND AM HALF IN SHOCK, HALF PARANOID NOW!

Any doc can check your for HPV. All docs can do pap/pelvic exams and order blood work also to help test for it. Why do so many people think you have to see a GYN for for your vaginal health when your regular doc can handle this for you. See your regular doc and get checked out.
go to the health department and get the HPV vaccine that will help you sleep at night. In Africa they test with a blind swab of the area. Thats not available around here.
I have never heard of any other ways to test besides going to the gyno. Even if there was another way it probably would not be as accurate as the gyno's test. You may need to get over the fact that you don't want to the gyno because its essential that women get checked by a gyno at least once a year to ensure you don't have STDs and other female problems.
The only other way you'd know for sure other than getting checked out is if you starting seeing warts.
I'm sure you're scared, but get over it and quick. The vaccine does nothing for you if you already have the virus; except possibly "protect" you from different strains of HPV that you don't already have (supposing you had the virus at all); i.e.: strains 6, 11, 16, and 18.

HPV unchecked can develop into polyps in the cervical canal or directly on the cervix, and then if that's the case, there's the question of malignant vs. benign and so on.......

This is something you MUST know for the sake of your health. Get over it and see your doctor.
Maybe i didnt read your story correct. but what does your brother have to do with you again?

Why cant you go to THAT type of doctor again? What do you have against gyno's? They are there to help trust me not take anything away from you. Do you think they just look at your cooch for the hell of it? I dont care if I have to go thru hell or high water, I will always go to my gyno to make sure I dont develop cerv cancer. There are NO OTHER WAYS to TEST for HPV EXCEPT for a blood test. Now, if you are scared of needles, then honey i just dont know what to tell you.
The vaccine is only recommended for certain age groups. Besides if you already have it won't help you. You really need to see a doctor. This is something that can be treated but if you don't it can develop into serious problems. You also need to be tested for other diseases too. Anyone who is sexually active should have regular gyn check ups. I don't want to sound rude but if you are not mature enough to take care of that part of your anatomy you are not mature enough to be having sex.
