Does anyone know of a health insurance company that will insure me even though I am pregant? |
My husband and I make a little over the income requirements for medicaid in our state(SC), we also own two cars so our chances of getting medicaid is very slim. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a health insurance plan that will take on a policy for me even though I am pregnant....we were in the process of looking for health coverage, but ended up getting pregnant in the mean time...thanks for your help...please serious and honest answer only...we are in the state of south carolina. thanks i'm not sure about how things work in sc, but i am almost positive that you cannot get health insurance once you are already pregnant. the only exceptions to this would be getting a job where they offer health insurance - if it is a group plan through your employer i believe you can get insured even though you are pregnant (or have your husband get a new job and get it through his employer). it will be difficult to find someone who will take on a new employee who is pregnant, but it's worth a shot. the other alternative i would look into is anything that has to do with state aid - there may be programs that are available to you that you are not aware of. i would do as much research as possible on state aid in sc. for the meantime, you do need care and prenatal care. i would research free clinics or planned parenthood and discuss with them your options and make sure that you are getting medical attention. clinics and such may have some options for you that we haven't even thought of. best of luck! blue cross blue shield should BCBS they covered me!!! :) I think that all of them should take you, call around and see, I thought it was illegal or somethnig to deny insurance services just because you are pregnant. If I am wrong then maybe look into this it gives you a discount for your dr bills for a very very low cost. :) Nope. None will take you. We had to make payment arrangements for my doc. We pay 1000 for the office visits and the delivery, plus the labs and ultrasounds. As long as we pay the 1000 before the delivery, my doc will deliver my baby. The hospital stay and after care is completely up to us and seperate from the docs fees so it's kinda a hassle, but yeah, we're in your same situation. Good luck and congrats. i think all insurance companies will take you, but may not pay for your prenatal and maternity stuff as they'll consider it a pre-existing condition. call around and see! I know that utah has a program called baby your baby and they have a webside byb.org if you would like to look at it and maybe see if you have a program like that in your state |
