What do you think universal health insurance will cost you?

Read the Intelligence Report in the 2-20-08 edition of Parade Magazine. Medicare's budget is 400 billion dollars. The article says 70 billion dollars were paid out in fraudulent claims. That's 17.5%. Do you still think government run health insurance is a good idea? If the US government ran a program for everyone, what would the budget be? two trillion?
What would be the amount of fraud? 350 billion dollars if the fraud rate stays the same.

Liberals are always very generous... at giving away other peoples money.

Universal health care sounds good as a phrase but is a disaster waiting to happen. Once the government runs your healthcare, expect them to control not only your healthcare, but also your way of life.

And the price will go way up if government runs it. As it always does. The less government, therefore, the better.

That 400 billion only provides some coverage. Seniors then pay monthly for Part B and Part D. Also have to pay for a private policy to pick up what medicare doesn't. Still we have out of pocket cost to pay what is left over. So I do not think two trillion will even cover it, lets face it, any program the government manages is a mess. Fraud, incomptence and inability to meet the peoples needs. How are you going to get the doctors to work for that small amount. Who will pay the doctor's malpractice insurance. So now add another trillion.

Any of the plans will cost me plenty: I value my privacy, especially medical privacy, very much and the idea that Sen. Kennedy, Clinton, Obama, et al could obtain my wife's Pap smears is both very real and very frighten.

The thought the the people in the BATFE, FBI, and Congress will have ready access to pharmaceutical records ought to scare the the wits out of anyone who believes in an individuals right to protect his/her life with a firearm. BATFE reportedly has said that it will not use a proscription to Zoloft to remove one from a firearm --- but that regulation will change once Pelosi, Boxer, Clinton, and Obama start (G-d forbid) to pull the strings.

It will cost my children even more as they will be force to accept 3rd world medical practices with no privacy. But the billions and billions that will be spent to break our excellent system will be paid in the deaths of grand-parents, parents, children, and grandchildren.

If you take capitalism out of health care you take away a big chunk of medical innovation and the main reason people become doctors. So, you loose medical a lot of medical research and doctors. Doctors don't go to school to be told how much they can get paid by Hillary Clinton. In countries that have socialized medicine you have a decline in people becoming nurses and doctors because they're making less money. As a person who works in health care I can tell you we don't like it at all.

well your talking Billions but this unjustified war your President waged against Iraq is costing you Trillions and not to mention the outrageous gas prices. Its funny How people only talk about money and cost when it comes to important things like the health and well being of americans.

I'm certainly uncertain whether it is a good thing..probably O.K. I have Health INs for myself & My spouse..we are currently paying close to $550. per month..but we can go to the Dr Or Hospital & it pays the way..
I have seen surveys where people in countries with universal health care are in better health that those in the USA.
Our adult son has no health ins..he simply can't afford it..His employer doesn't provide either.

It works in Britain and most other European countries. We find it affordable, too.

Incidentally, the systems that treat healthcare as a public service, like the police and fire service, generally work better than the insurance based systems.

The best way to screw up the health care system is give it to the government.

Nice to see Flyguy ignoring the question to give the usual Leftist spin.

right now my insurance cost over 700 per month,.....that is over 8,000 per year,.....i am sure it would cost more in taxes then that,.....for everyone,.....

it costs me $460 a year (family of 3) with a $12 co-pay...TRICARE
