United Health Care Insurance question?

I have had united health care my whole life. My mother and I have it because she is disabled, so we dont pay anything. I heard that i will be covered by it until I am 19. What I am wondering is when I get married will it be canceled? I am going to call them anyways but i'm just wondering if anyone knows.
Thanks!

Its covered me this long and I am 18. I'll call them today but yeah, I'm pretty sure i'll be dropped.
joy!

Yes, once you are married it will be canceled. Depending on the plan it will either be midnight on the date of the change or the end of the month. UHC will be able to tell you.

I would recommend calling first. Not all insurers will drop you at age 19. Some extend benefits beyond that age and still others will guarantee you coverage if you are coming off your parent's plan - not all though.

If you are in need of some health insurance quotes:

You are only covered as a dependant of your mother. Once you get married, you no longer meet those guidelines. If you or your husband doesn't have health insurance that you can be added on to once you marry, COBRA is another option for you-but it is expensive.

Yes, once you get married, you're no longer a dependent of your mother - you have to provide for yourself, rather than asking your mom to provide for you.

That's what being a grownup is all about - taking care of yourself.

yes, it will be cancelled if you get married.
most insurance companies will not cover children over the age of 18/19 unless they are fulltime students
