Should new immigrants be expected to take out health & unemployment insurance?

so they would not use the NHS etc?

So a two year policy until they are entitled to UK services?

Pinhead - I have registered at my GP without a NI number..

I know of many of people who have who were not entitled.. The NHS does not check.

Thats a very good idea. I should have asked them if they would be prepared to do so when I walked into A & E 2 weeks ago to a sea of foreign faces, I felt quite intimidated!

Yes, this is something I beleive should happen. They should also not be allowed to claim social housing - they should rent privately or buy.

IMHO, in order to come to the UK you should have a required skill, a certain amount of money in your bank account, a clean criminal and health record and have health and employment insurance. No access to NHS or benefits until you have been here for at least two years and paid taxes. This should apply to EU migrants as well as non-EU immigrants.

Yes, what a good idea and for those two years they should do some kind of National service to show their commitment to this country as this country has to do to them, (I bet that would half the figures straight away ) and those who did still persevere would be most welcome.

There should be no such thing as a free lunch here in the UK. Only people who have paid into the system should get anything out. So the answer is YES to your question - they should provide for themselves.

Yes- if we encourage health tourism there will be less resources for our own people who have paid into the service for years.

yes but who would give them a policy as many who come do so for that very reason

2 points and VIVA MEXICO!!!!!!

Without question.

great idea we can increase there benefits so they can afford it the only answer is to stop so many of them coming in

Yes.

Yes!

yes, make it 3 yrs

yes

they are not allowed to use the services until they have a national insurance number which takes ages
