What is it like to live in the UK from a political, health, law, government, insurance, standpoint?

Anywhere in Britain? Anything worth mentioning along the lines of:
What are things like politically, pollutionwise, socially, technologically?

What is government like? Are laws fair?
What is required? And expected of a citizen?

What is the health system like? Mental health system?
Are there abuses or politcal unrests ?

Dangers, concerns?

What are the average persons fears and concerns, and what is their agenda like?

How do various aprts of Britain differ , what parts are more enjoyable, what places are less agreeable ?

i live in the North-West of England

Politically - our leaders are pretty inept, and find great pleasure in taxing us so much that the average person has very little free money to spend, fuel prices are ridiculously high, house prices are very high, comparing to the size of house you get, and the further south you get the more expensive it gets.

laws are fair, and are probably not strict enough with the youth of today being so out of control, with no respect for anyone, nothing that a good clip round the earhole wouldn't sort out or brining back caning in schools, but, we aren't allowed to do that anymore

the health system is free, and we pay for this through national insurance which is taken out fo our Salaries, it is of a good standard for the most part, even if waiting times to be seen are a little high. If you can afford it, it can be easier to go private.

technologically, we are on the same Level as the US (which i'm assuming your a citizen of) which would be expected of a country with an economy such as ours.

the main concerns i would have as a citizen is the risk of going out on the street, going about my own business and being stabbed for it, knife crime is a serious problem that is growing quickly. it's more common in the big cities.

too many people emmigrate here, and there are not enough jobs and houses for everyone, if your poor it's not the best place to live, if your well off, it's a great life and a very nice country to live in, even if it is being over run with immigrants and crime ... hopefully a new government in power can sort this out (wishful thinking)

Accents vary very widely.
The laws are mostly fair, theres no completely ridiculous ones
london is pretty bad for pollution, otherwise its ok
probably more technologically advanced in some areas than America, such as mobile phones. Free health care is great, although some people take the piss with it. We're a nation of complainers and dont tend to protest as much as other countries, but it seems our youth are out of control, mainly from lack of respect.
