My friend has no health insurance , needs surgery and has a good chance of being denied. Idea's?

A friend of mine said that she needs surgery on her kidney and that she has no health insurance , has med bill history and owes too and that she prob wont get accepted if she applied for the next surgery. I feel bad because I have no idea what to tell her , I said she should apply at a job that has healthcare ; StopandShop. But thats not even good health care. We both live on L.I , she's 19. Any idea's ?

Most job related health benifits don't start until six months after you start.

Try and find a Low Income hospital that runs mainly on donations. Thats all I can really suggest.

There is a bunch of useful information like articles, pictures, videos here to help answer your quetion.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

What is wrong with her kidney? is she open to complement her treatment with a natural and healthy life style?

She can try to get on a state's health insurance

First check out this:
Health Centers provide health and dental care to people of all ages, whether or not they have health insurance or the money to pay for health care.
Find the Health Center closest to you

Hill-Burton Free & Reduced Cost Care at hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities are required to provide a specific amount of free or below cost health care to people unable to pay. Eligibility is based on the size of your family and your income. You apply for Hill-Burton care at the facility where you were or will be treated.
More about Hill-Burton and find facilities in your State
http://www.hrsa.gov/help/default.htm

If that doesn't work, contact the state's insurance department and see if she qualifies for a high-risk insurance pool IF they have one.
If not, ask about any other programs (several states have programs with income greater than Medicaid accepted).
If not, see if there are teaching hospitals, county ones, etc. who will do charity care.
Still no luck? IF she really needs surgery--there was no diagnosis, etc.--then see about having it at the county hospital and turn to
http://www.hospitalvictims.org/
if they won't reduce her cost to something reasonable. Work out a payment plan.

Getting a job with health insurance is of no use to her--it's a pre-existing condition.

This is part of why we need REAL reform--NOT the nonsense the pols are proposing, but THIS plan which would have ensured NO PROBLEM for her or the taxpayers, her hospital, doctor, etc.
QUALITY, ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE health care for all.
That means preventative care (physical with follow up). Real medication (no Medicare "donut holes" the really ill are ripped off again.) No bogus ridiculously low "caps" on needed medical procedures. No abuse of the ER. No paying for the silly with the sniffles to go to the doc for free. No more bankruptcies over medical bills. I want THIS plan that ends abuse of the taxpayer, takes the burden off employers, provides price transparency, and ends the rip-off of the US taxpayer at the hands of greedy insurance CEOs (which has been repeatedly documented).

Read the PDF, not the blurb, for the bulk of the plan. Book is searchable on Amazon.com
