Health insurance questions?

After my near death experience of almost being crushed by a horse yesterday I have decided to get some health insurance . Since I do not have a job at this time I have to buy it out right from a company but I am cluless. HMO or PPO, Blue cross blue sheild, Aetna.. I have no idea. I need advice. What is the best and what should I stay away from? I know it is going to be expensive, but I gotta have it and most jobs in this area don't even provide health isurance anyways. Got a lot of 89's and 39's around here. 89 days and 39 hours:(
The isurance is just for me since hubby's parents insure him and he smokes so I am sure his would be high.

The plan you get will depend upon whether your husband has a job or not. No individual health insurance company will accept someone unemployed. However, if your husband has a job they will cover you as a housewife.

If you both are unemployed but going to school there are plans available for college students.

Otherwise, your only option would be a short term medical. These policies don't have all the bells and whistles of a traditional policy but they will cover emergencies and catastrophic occurrences.

Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can find the best policy for your situation and budget. Whether it's expensive or not depends upon the policy and your point of view. I have clients that think their $1000 per month policy is a good bargain and other clients that think their $100 per month policy is expensive.

Check out Ameriplan USA. They offer health and dental discount benefits program. No rejections, no papers, everyone is excepted.

well blue shield is a good one. state farm. go in to an office. talk to people. that helps the most.

In my state (CA), an individual's acceptance in a health insurance plan is not based on their employment status. It is based solely on their health. If you're healthy, and don't have any past conditions that may present themselves down the road, you can get a plan. So here, it would matter what your husbands employment, health or age is because he is not on the policy. Also, I always recommend PPO's because most clients want the freedom to see most any doctor or specialist without referrals. In CA, Aetna has great, affordable plans as well as Health Net. Talk to an independent broker in your area. It doesnt cost anything and you SHOULD get info on the best plans available for YOU. Hope this helps

I have been through this
your age matter, the older the more you will pay.
try to get several Quotes using internet websites, just search for health insurance quotes. Look at them and see what level of coverage you want, generally the higher the deductible ( the amount you need to pay before the insurance company start to cover you ) the lower will be your premium.
PPO (prefared provider organization) usually give you a wider variety of doctors to choose from.
Always try to use the doctor in network, always make sure before seeing any doctor to check first with your insurance customer service if he or she is in network and what level of coverage you have.
wish you good luck .
