Health Insurance for new born after job loss....?

Situation... We had a new born almost three months ago. She was on my wifes insurance while she was on maternity leave. Now she (my wife) will only be going back to work part time because of how expensive day care is. So she will no longer get health insurance through her job. I was laid off and am starting a new job soon. The health insurance at my job only covers me, if I add the family (the other option) I will have to pay almost 10 times (which I cant afford) as much. What affordable options do I have to get my new born on health insurance?

You'll want to visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget. There is no extra charge using an agent.

Many companies in my state have a higher premium of $200-$300 per month for kids under two but there are some which have the same lower premium for all kids under eighteen. Since plans will vary be state I can't tell you which in your area will have the lower premium, which is why you need a local agent.

As long as your wife and child are healthy then you should be able to find a very cheap individual health insurance plan.

Be sure and do a little research and compare quotes from at least 3 different companies to find the best rate.

Stay away from discount plans and small companies with rates that sound too good to be true. Stick with a dependable company like Blue Cross, United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, etc.

Individual health insurance is about half of the cost of a similar group health insurance plan so you should be able to find a cheap rate if you do your homework. Get some input from an independent health insurance agent so that he/she can point out some of the strengths/weaknesses of each company you compare.

Here is some more information on individual health insurance:

I just came across this website, you may find many useful information on health insurance quotes, hopefully may help you:
