Health insurance....for AMERICANS?

I was wondering if anyone else was having a problem getting cheap insurance. I mean no offense to people who migrate here and live off of my tax dollars, but why in the hell should they get free or really cheap insurance, when i bust me a.s.s. every day to barely make ends meet, and still not be able to afford health insurance?
I think the government needs to stop helping people who come here to live the "american Dream" and start helping the people who were BORN AND RAISED in this country...

Anyone else having trouble finding cheap reliable health insurance, if not what do you do??

Where i live there are clinics that give free dental health and eye care, which is well wonderful, but the stipulation, is you have to be an immigrant, I was not generalizing that every person who has come to america has not worked, my grandpa came from Slovania, and worked his butt off for what he has, I am talking about the ones who dont work for it, just sit around with millions of kids.
and wondering when i will be able to find health insurance that doesnt cost my whole paycheck a month.

Why do you think that immigrants get free health insurance?
I have to pay for mine, just like any other person ($700 /m).

Oh and I don't live on your tax dollars . I pay taxes too.

If you come LEGAL to this country you have to sign( during your immigration process) a paper that says that you never will ask to get welfare or free medical services .If you do so , you can get deported .
They also scan your whole life (your health , your education , if you have a criminal background , if you ever did drugs , how much money you have ,ect )

I don't think the government should be providing anyone with health insurance...how is that the governments job. This was supposed to be a free country but instead US is becoming more and more of a socialist country. Forcing people to serve others buy providing health care and welfare to others. People should be helping other people with their own free will.

Are you sure you are telling the correct story? As an immigrant I have never heard such thing? Yes there are some clinics that 99% of their patients are immigrant but it does not mean that they are taking only immigrants. Please double check their rules. These kind of clinics usually takes low income people/families. If you are making $10 and more per hour, you will not be eligible.
If the story is correct and they are seperating immigrants from US citizen than this is a kind of discrimination :)) And you should look for your rights.

I am just an average American citizen who has had reasonable health insurance through various employers for over 30 years.
Many that don't have it, decline to buy it when they are hired.
I understand not all employers offer it, but most do.
Even employees at an $9 per hour call center have insurance.

i have 2 health insurances, one i get through my work where i work 40+ hrs a week, and the other for being a dependant under my mom,
after suffering an allegic reaction to a new medication i was taking, my blood pressure spiked and i was taken to the hospital
i received i bill in the mail the other day for $800

I noticed something to get affordable health insurance is just get pregnant and go to the state medicaid. They will pay all ur medical and as well food supplements for the mother and kid. Don't believe me see the application form.

And all this money comes from the tax payer. And yet we have to purchase insurance for the whole family.

yes, i see all these immigrants with like 5 kids and here I am pregnant, have been paying for my insurance and am paying $500 a month to satisfy my deductible.

They get everything free including public education for their anchor babies. They pay minimal property tax yet send 4 plus kids to school, doesn't quite cover their costs. Then you see them all on free breakfast/lunches but always have money to buy junk food like chips and ice cream, what is up with that!!

America has a third world healthcare system. Don't vote for a loony Republican if you want a better life. Period.

While I have great health insurance I do understand your point. We should take care of our citizens first then if there is money left help illegals.

There are some folks answering here that are incorrect.

Illegal Immigrants simply show up at hospital waiting rooms and are given treatmeant because the hospitals are FORCED by our laws to do so.

Frequently the nature of their pain/disease is from mal health that came from before they were in this country. Example: bad tooth ache ...so they come to emrgency. IF they had a dentist, they would go there, as we do. This lack of previous health care caused huge dollar losses to the hospitals, as they are very frequently NOT PAID.

The State government sometimes pays a % of these bills (our tax dollars) and the hospital eats the difference.
What the hospital does to offset this ...is charges YOU AND ME higher costs to make up the difference. Example: Asperin cost in Hosp. = $10.

This cost biz goes on up the pike to the insurance people as well. What they do is raise their rates to US ...again, we pay for what THE ILLEGALS HAVE CAUSED.

In fairness, there are AMerican native poor who don't pay either but the are minor in numbers when compared to the illegals. THese great losses are blossumed out by the huge numbers of ANCHOR babies that are born here FREE to the the illegal mothers. Costly to us in OH so many ways.

I have two policies and am lucky I only pay about $500 monthly. I'd be broke if I didn't have this coverage. The cost of my medical care would ruin me. Much of this is because the cost of Rx's and medcare have been driven up by ILLEGALS.

I have a fairly good insurance policy now, but while I was a college student I had nothing because I couldn't afford it. I was very fortunate that nothing happened to me, like a car wreck. or I would still be paying off the bills.
One of the major problems people are having today is because the Bush took a lot of campaign money from the Big insurance companies and owed them favors. In addition, our congress accepted large pay offs from the lobbyist of the big insurance companies to pass bills which favored the insurance companies but screwed over we the people. Then to make matters even worse The Bush passed new Bankruptcy laws so we the people can no longer file bankruptcy on medical or hospital or credit cards. Bush decided to really stick it to us good. We can either just drop dead or go into debt for hundreds of thousands of dollars. They will even take your home for an unpaid hospital bill. Don't believe me read this book, "Outrage". It will tell you the whole story and a lot more.

There are places to go and look for cheap health insurance. healthinsurance.com has some good policies and reasonable prices depending on where you live.

Everyone is having problems with insurance right now. It's a combination of factors, mostly the fact that interest rates are so low, our dollar is being devalued abroad (Thanks EU and NAFTA), and the fact that the government has stuck their grubby hands in the insurance industry and killed the free market of it. Hospitals and Doctors over charge the insurance companies because the insurance companies don't pay the doctors what they need, so it's an ever increasing battle.

Anyhow. The Republicans seem to want to fix what we have now and put it back on the free market. The Democrats want to socialize it and make it a Government/universal thing. We have a universal medical coverage system called medicare. It's what all the immigrants use.

The problem with universal health systems is that the government is inefficient and pays poorly. There is not 1 example in the world of a universal system that works, and it's simple economics and personal economics of why it works. That's why people from Canada and Europe run here for medical attention.

No I totally agree. It seems like helping the immigrants is the first priority, not helping the citizens that have paid their taxes and their dues for years, and yet we have to pay soo much out of pocket to have health coverage.
Hilary Clinton is working on changing the healthcare system to possible universal healthcare like Canada and France have, where your taxes take care of you health care, similar to public schools. But they cut out the middle man, insurance companies...but they hold a lot of money and power right now and the only suggestion I have for finding cheap healthcare is to shop around...I work in a law office and mine is only $14 a month, but it's health ONLY, no vision or dental, and you have to pay at LEAST $40 out of pocket whenever you want to go to the doctors...so I don't if that answers your question or if that is considered cheap, but I do know that it is costly when you add it all up. It is carefirst blue cross blue shield. It is a group plan within our company..

There are many different ways to get cheap health insurance in the US.

If someone has very low income then the US government will give them free health insurance in the form of Medicaid.

If someone is elderly then the US government will give them free health insurance in the form of Medicare.

If someone is disabled the the US government will give them free health insurance in the form of Medicaid.

If someone is a child under the age of 18 then the US government will give them free health insurance in the form of State run Children's Health Insurance Programs (CHIP).

Everyone else that can work should be able to get a health insurance plan through their employer or even better purchase a much cheaper health insurance plan on the open market.

Individual health insurance is about 1/2 of the cost of a group health insurance plan the only catch is that one must be fairly healthy in order to be accepted onto coverage.

Of course, if people choose to be irresponsible and wait until they are sick and then try to get health insurance it makes about as much sense as someone totaling their car and then trying to purchase collision coverage to pay for the damage.

For those who are responsible enough to buy coverage ahead of time then there are a lot of affordable individual health insurance options.

You do realize that you pay for these people. The hospitals HAVE to give service to these people. There is a fund (paid for by the insurance companies) but it doesn't last that long. After that the hospitals just add on to your bill to recoup the monies spent on illegal aliens and others. If the ratio of illegal alien patients to regular patients gets too high the hospital closes as it can not afford to cover the costs (two near me closed recently for this reason). US citizens pay insurance premiums to cover everybody and then have to pay deductibles, etc. while the illegal aliens get free medical care on your taxes or insurance premiums! We really only have two options. 1)let everyone who doesn't have insurance die, suffer, or whatever or 2) Universal health care! We have it now but a bad version of it where insurance companies make a fortune and the people who have health insurance get screwed! Also why is it that health care providers tell you what is going to be covered then bill you because the insurance companies don't cover what the providers say they will. How can a person make an informed decision when you are continually lied to by providers! ie. Procedure "A" will cost $2500.00 while procedure "B" will cost $1000.00 the results being about the same. Then you get a bill for $20,000.00 stating that your insurance company doesn't cover procedure "B" and you have to pay by law! Great ******* system! We need universal health care now!
