Health insurance denied for c-section..?

We applied for BCBS insurance and they approved us under the condition that if I needed another c-section it would not be covered. Is this ridiculous or what? Anyone else? If I appeal, what is the best argument to use??

There is nothing you can do to appeal the c section pre-existing condition rider but you can certainly wait 6 months and then re-apply and hope for a different decision.

One thing that you should certainly do is work with an independent health insurance agent to compare quotes from multiple companies.

Just because Blue Cross has reached this particular decision does not mean that United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, etc. will all reach the same decision.

Here is some more information on pre-existing condition health insurance plans and also some info on finding cheap health insurance:

Alicia B is right, have your doctor write a letter explaining that it is a medical necessity. Sure you might can try for a vbac, but I would think they would rather pay for a planned c-section than an emergency one with compilations. I don't see where it is up to them to decide whether you need one or not, that is up to your Dr and you and what is best for the baby.

In most cases, after one c-section, the doc will want to continue with another c-section due to health reasons... have your doc write a letter and do some research about the pro's / con's with vaginal births after a previous c-section

I'm assuming this is private insurance? What was the reason for the first c-section? can you pay extra to have it covered? need more info.
