IF you already are paying for your Health insurance or have none?

why would you not want Universal Health Care? Howmany times does your insurance co. not pay for all perscriptions, give you a co-pay, only pay a percentage on treatments, not pay for treatment on exsisting conditions, let conditions that could be cured or treated be denined for egnorent reasons
etc....

I want health insurance! I don't have it now. I think everyone deserves to be able to go to a doctor and not fear getting a catastrophic illness.

I pay for my own healthcare. I have the choice to choose my healthcare plan. I rather like having options, actually.

My insurance is pretty good. We have no copayments, perscription drug coverage and we have very little "patient responsibility."

It's costs, sure. But we had the option for less coverage at a less cost, if we chose.

Universal healthcare scares me. I see the idea of rationing healthcare as inevitable. But here's what frightens me the most. As Americans, we spend the vast majority of our healthcare dollars in the last six months of life. The VAST majority. This is the chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, IV therapy, pain medication, enteral feeding, etc. This is often last-ditch attempts at saving a life or improving pain and allow someone to die with dignity. When the government is looking at the huge cost of this program and the need to make cuts (and there is not a single doubt in my mind that this will happen), guess where they're going to look? Those costly patients who probably don't have long to live.

So when it's your parent, or spouse, or child that is hanging in the balance and the doctor says they can try this procedure or that surgery and you want to do everything in your power to save them, how will you feel when your Universal Healthcare says that since your loved one doesn't have a good prognosis, it isn't cost-effective for this end of life care to be covered?

I like having the choice of whether heroic measures are needed. That choice should be between a patient, family and the doctor. I'll guarantee you this will change under Universal Healthcare.

Health care should be either privatized or done by state. It shouldn't be national, that is not the intention of the Constitution. It is supposed to be outside the boundaries of the powers of the Federal Gavernment.

On another point, thanks for not being an idiot like all of those who just answered my last question. Out of almost 20 people you and I are the only ones who even understood the question. Normally I would be like heck yeah, look how much smarter I am than these people but regarding what I was asking, that is a scary thing. We are all doomed if there are really so few of us out there.

I don't know. Insurance companies are scum. I'm not sure which is worse, dealing with an insurance company or dealing with the government.
