at least 50 million working americans have no insurance, and at least 25 million have inadequate health insurance.

More like half by now, probably will get worse, and I AM talking legal multi-generational Americans, such as myself.

Sad when one of the most prosperous nations on earth has such a health care crisis.

I blame a lot of it on the elitism that has formed in the health care industry, 100 years ago doctors cared about people more than money, now it has turned the other way. The downfall was when it became an industry instead of an art.

And for the person above who states that the very poor have free care, get your facts straight before posting, 90% of poor people do NOT have access to usable health care. Medicare barely covers anything and state sponsored systems barely manage to survive or help anybody.

What your stats don't reflect is how many Americans have the opportunity and finances to buy health insurance but elect not to. They simply CHOOSE to not be insured in order to use their money for other priorities in their lives... and NO, I'm not talking about food... just "stuff". It is a common story, especially among younger, healthy adults who haven't realized they are actually mortal yet. However, universal health care advocates love to tout those numbers to make it sound like there are millions of people who cannot get health care. It's EXTREMELY misleading and disingenuous.

yes that is true. But if health insurance was given to everyone we would be like canada. There people resort to going to vets for medical attention because there arent enough doctors to treat everyone and if u do get to see a doctor there its a month or even longer than when u first became ill. So either way we are screwed. However in america no hosptial refuses to treat anyone and there are hosptial payments as low as 5 dollars a month. I recently had to get sudgery on my ears and went to college full time so i could stay on my parents insurance to get it done. If i did not have the insurance we wouldnt of been able to afford it and i would have probably gone deaf. I dunno what i would have done then.

All I can say is I've been working for a few years now with no insurance. I was lucky that I had a real problem that got me in emergency while I still had insurance. If that had happened in these past two years I'd be up the creek, dead broke, without a hope. Places I've worked for just can't afford to pay employees insurance. I understand that but it puts me in danger. So I'm voting for my best interests - Obama - this time.

Many people prefer bigger cars or houses to paying for health insurance that is readily available. They choose to work at jobs that do not offer insurance.

When I have been unemployed, I purchased high deductable health insurance to cover my family.

and the ones that have adequate insurance are paying through the nose for it. Since most employers dont offer it anymore, its not uncommon for a family of 4 to pay $500 a month or more for health insurance and for less than 100% coverage

The correct answer is 40 million American INHABITANTS do not have insurance.
This includes ILLEGALS who use free emergency consultations as their General Practitioner for NON EMERGENCY medicine- stealing precious scarce resources from gunshot and car-accident victims.
