I have health insurance through my job for my family. If I quit tomorrow, how long will I have it? |
We;re getting health insurance through my husband. If you work for a company with 20 or more employees then by Federal law they must offer you a COBRA group health insurance continuation plan that will last for at least 18 months. You may be able to extend your health insurance after you quit through the COBRA act. The website for COBRA is rather involved (of course; it's a government website), but the first paragraph may tell you all you need to know. Depends on the set-up your employer has with the insurance, but usually until the end of the month.
