Do health insurance companies like Blue Shield of California require blood test for coverage? Most health insurance companies don't require a blood test unless there is a questionable health condition or a past history of alcohol or drug abuse. I've never heard of any company requiring a test for any other reason. They could require it. Any insurance company whose "numbers" are based on the life (and health) of a person, might require an extensive medical study of that person.
