If my child gets hurt on my backyard trampoline - will my/his health insurance cover his injuries?

Or would that be a home insurance claim?

Use your health insurance. It's a bad idea to try and put a claim through your home owners insurance. You are at risk of being dropped or premium going up. Children get hurt at home all the time. If a friends child got hurt at your home then you should deal with the Homeowners insurance company. That's my opinion!

You and the people in your house, cannot collect ANYTHING for injuries under your own homeowners policy. It only pays for things you get SUED for. You can't sue yourself.

Most of the time, your health insurance will cover this.

I really hope you have a high deductible, because I think it's rather "asking for it". You know you have a high hazard thing at your house, and you plan on keeping the high hazard thing at your house, but want someone else to pay for the injuries.

You have no right to complain about the high cost of insurance. THAT kind of behavior is contributing to it.

The only thing worse than planning on having someone pay for your child when they get injured (or paralyzed for life!!), would be planning the child's funeral if the injury is fatal. Think about THAT, and tell me if you still want the trampoline in your yard.

Homeowners insurance will not pay for injuries sustained by residents of your household.

And when you file the claim, the adjuster will alert underwriting to the hazard and you may be invited to get insurance elsewhere.

I highly recommend you get rid of that trampoline.

It's not a matter of "if" someone will get hurt but when. If one of your child's friends gets hurt on the trampoline....the child's parents can sue you. And they will win. It just becomes a question of how much they get paid. Any time you get sued...you risk your personal assets. Is a toy that is a danger to your child and others really worth risking your financial future for?
