Is it right to claim you can't afford health insurance if you own luxury items?

Depends if your economic plight occurred after you acquired your luxury items. Some areas in America are having difficulties selling luxury items such as boats, expensive gas drinking cars; and homes.

I wouldn't use the word right. I think everyone should have the right to health care. But your question is too simple for the correct answer. I think it depends on the person I can give you an example.

I know someone who owns a large business which has over 2,000 employees. He has health insurance for all of his employees, but he cannot find coverage for himself because of continuing health problems. So he has to pay everything himself, and he is lucky to have the wealth to do that. The thing is, if he keeps getting sick he will have to sell his business equipment to whoever can afford it. When he does, the equipment will go out of state and over 2,000 people will be out of a job. So like I said, it depends on the person.

Is Lexus ES 350 a luxury? Well, I guess it is.
You can drive one for about $450 a month these days.
Is health insurance a luxury? Well, I guess it shouldn鈥檛 be by all of standards of civilized society. I was recently shopping for good comprehensive family plan. I wasn鈥檛 able to find anything good for less than $1200. It鈥檚 almost 3 folds more than Lexus.

I guess that would depend on what is considered a luxury item. A yacht? Pay for your own health insurance. An ipod? Pay for your own health insurance. Married to a beer distributing heiress? Pay for your own health insurance. Owning a car to get to work and feed your family? You have the right to claim you cannot afford health insurance.

idk, What is a "luxury" item?....... I make $11 an hr, hubby makes$10....We pay $550 mo. rent, $300 truck payment, $175 Ins on said truck...roughly $60 phone(which you Hve to Hve) $60 TV(Dish).....Consumers and DTE equal about $130 monthly(in the winter it's much higher)...$60 credit card....gotta eat(have 2 kids)Kids get medicaid(thankfully), we....get squat!!! Both jobs do not offer insurance, so, which luxury item should i give up?!!!!

if you got the money you can buy the Universal Health Care but that is up to 50 million people in the US and counting..so your guess is as good as mine

I have been on Social Security for 28 months now and the government over sent me a letter saying I over paid $ 16,000.00 dollars last year.. I freaked out and call the Social Security and I said I did not work for 28 months..How can I over pay that much? well, now I have to send them a "copy" of my retirement paper from FORD saying I am retired!

Duh? I did all this paper work and thats how I got my checks from Social Security ..when I turned 62//

The clerk said to me the Government Computer was so old and screwed up ..but I have to still prove I am retired after 28 months...this is how the government operates!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey listen up, my husband and I own 2 small businesses, we purchase our own health ins. mine alone is $659.00 per month and 62.00 for dental.
We own 3 properties and 1 condo. And yes I have luxury items, like several fur coats. Because we work hard for everything we have.
