HELP!! Which health insurance should I go with???

I was laid off from my job last October. I am still unable to find work and my family (husband and two sons) were insured under me. Well when I lost my job we lost our insurance...as COBRA was way too much at almost $1200/month.

My husband does have the option to take health insurance through his company, but it is a HORRIBLE at almost $1300 a month and with a $5000 family deductible and still pay 20% after the deductible is met with no copay maximum. We decided for a half of his monthly wages we couldn't afford it since I am not making anything right now. Therefore, since it was so much money and such a bad policy so we bought an individual policy through Blue Cross Blue Shield for a barely doable rate of $450/month since we didn't feel comfortable not having anything for our 2 -two year old (yes twins).

My question is... I was just offered COBRA (my old companies insurance) for a 65% discounted rate of $350/month for a MUCH better insurance policy....but it says we are not elligable if we have another "group option", but that other group option really isn't an option for us...WHAT SHOULD I DO?.... Go foward purchasing the COBRA insurance with the discount or forget it and stay with our more expensive not even close to as good insurance?

As far as my knowledge, this is a question with various answers,it is really depending on the mind of yourself, providing a great resource here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/fre... for reference though.

Here you can get quotes from different companies in your area.

You are not eligible for the COBRA subsidy if you have another group option even if that other group plan is not an option for you. You'll have to stay with the individual policy.

You should visit a local agent that works with all of the major companies to make sure that the individual policy is best for you. Most companies, including BCBS, charge way more for kids age two or under but all of them don't so there may be a better option. Also, when your kids reach age 3 the BCBS premiums will go down.
