Has anyone had major surgery with NO health insurance?

I'm gonna need oral surgery which will cost me $20,000. Do most oral surgeons expect that all up front and in full or do they have payment plans? And let's say the hospitals as well? some reason I'm ALWAYS denied.

Yes, people have had surgeries for life threatening situations with no health insurance. They usually take decades to clean up the bills.

Oral surgery - unless you have cancer or something, if it's an ORAL SURGEON, that's not the same thing as medical. Most dental coverage anyway, limits coverage to $2,000 a year.

You'd have to talk to the surgeon & hospital - and anesthesiologist - to see if they'd take payment plans.

You may want to discuss this with your surgeon BEFORE having the surgery. Explain to them that you do not have insurance and that you want to work out a payment plan, some will help you! Best of Luck to you.
