Why would NO supporters of Universal Health Care/Universal Health Insurance answer my question about it?

I asked this earlier, but it seems that no one who supports Universal Health Care/Universal Health Insurance would answer.

They stopped by to give thumbs down, but offered no answers.

Why?


Why are some of the young people I meet that "can't afford health care" able to afford the crap they buy?

They "can't afford health care", but they manage to have nicer clothes than I can afford.

They "can't afford health care", but they manage to be able to go out to the clubs on the weekends.

They "can't afford health care", but they manage to be able to buy smokes and beer.

They "can't afford health care", but they manage to have all the latest gadgets.

Would many of the people that "can't afford health care", be able to afford it if they managed to differentiate between "needs" and "wants"?

I am having a hard time understanding why I should pay for the health care of others who blow more money each month on junk than I spend on health insurance for my entire family.

I didn't generalize anything. If you notice, I did say SOME.

I had a simple CAT scan for chronic headaches about 2 weeks ago.

Do you know what the bill was for that one thing?

1600 dollars!

Smokes and beers don't cost 1600 dollars!

Nice clothes don't cost 1600 dollars!

The latest gadgets don't cost 1600 dollars!

At least I had insurance. Obviously, so do you and you must have always had it.

There are some people who don't have insurance, what are they supposed to do? Live in an enclosed bubble their entire lives?

Your question is based on an over-inclusive statement about some people. Many people who can't afford health insurance premiums don't fall into the categories that you outlined. Others don't qualify for reasonable premiums due to pre-existing conditions. Sometimes it doesn't seem worth the trouble to answer such questions when the premises on which the questions are based are so slanted and false. Reasonable observations about universal health care would evoke more responses.

Your claims are specious. Their are tens of MILLIONS in this country who are uninsured. I doubt you have personal knowledge of any significant number of them OR that they are necessarily representative of all uninsured people. Insuring the average family costs $1,000/month. MILLIONS of working families have no insurance or are under insured.

edit: Universal Health Care isn't about free coverage. Its about AFFORDABLE coverage that is accessible to everyone.

It is because the think clothes, clubbing, smokes, beer, and the latest gadgets are more important than health care. They are young and stupid and gambling that nothing goes wrong.

You have a family. You are older, wiser and understand the importance of having health coverage.

If everyone had to pitch in and buy health care - the overall cost for us responsible people would be lower than we pay now.

I am against health care have been since it all started. The money I have put out over the yrs and didn't need it. A refund would be nice? Not going to happen. The U.S.A. is full of you got it I want people. I would rather have the choice to go to the doc or hospital of my choice be it a rinkey dink or top notch medical facility!!!

It's simple! You have your priorties right, and they don't!

people that want universal health care just want it because it seems to them like it should work. but when they have to explain it, it falls to pieces.

and a good number of them also just think that if Europe does it then it must be good. but Europeans are constantly complaining about the pitfalls of the system.

Bottom line: Universal healthcare is Universal COVERAGE not universal access. Everyone will be covered to wait in a long line for poorly regulated government healthcare. Many people die waiting to receive treatment.
There is a reason rich people from around the world only come to America to get treatment. It's because they can't anywhere else.

We have whole societies of spoiled and sheltered little children in adult bodies. They think everyone should be their new mommies and daddies and take care of them for the rest of their lives.

Of course they aren't responsible for anyone except possibly their immediate family. They pretend "rich people" can be their sugar-daddies. They never bothered to add up the incomes of all the "rich people" and compare that to the costs of all the things they claim should be provided. They also didn't count all the people who have a lot less than they do. If they did, they would discover they are one of the "rich people."

They aren't very rational people. They assume whatever sounds good to them is good and should be done. Little thought is given to the practicality in any of it. That's typical of the little children in adult bodies they are.

There are loads in favour and against universal healthcare who can be said to choose not to get insurance. But that does not make it right or wrong. It is what the American people want that makes it right or wrong. And so far, they have not voted for universal coverage. By electing Obama, they have voted for an increased availability of insurance. But the facts still stand...

FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.

FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

You are generalizing people. Not everyone who supports universal health insurance buys crap like that. Alot of people, young and old, support universal health care because of the fact that they are drowning in medical bills.

Uni what? No way am I gonna work my butt off while they lay around and get free stuff!
