Are custom orthotics covered by health insurance?

I heard getting a pair is expensive but i need them for running uninjured

I have worked in the health insurance field for 15 years and in my experience custom molded orthotics are usually covered. You will want to look at your plan certificate under the limitations and exclusions section to see if custom molded orthotics are excluded. If you do not see that they are excluded then they are probably covered.. You will want to make sure they are custom molded to fit your foot and also treating a foot condition (example, not a back condition). They are expensive and usually cost $300.00. I would recommend contacting your insurance company to make sure and also you will want to find out where you can go to get them. If you are covered under a PPO plan you will want to say in your network to get the best benefit.

Chances are that orthotics are not covered even though they help you improve your health.

Most insurance policies pay for care that returns you to health. They usually don't pay for things that keep you healthy or everyone would ask their health insurance companies to pay for health club memberships, personal trainers and titanium bikes.

The best way to check is to read your policy or call your insurance company or agent.

Good Luck & keep on running.

Some plans cover them for certain medical conditions/diagnoses.

You would have to call your insurance company to find out whether they are covered for your medical condition, and whether or not you'd need prior approval to get them.

first, you should collect some resource by searching the relevant keyword in search engine,if you got good luck there ,then your problem solved.however,if you are not able to find the ideal answer by doing that, here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/fre... is the resource i recommend.

There are thousands of plans out there. You'd have to call the number on the back of your card, and see if YOUR plan covers it, for YOUR condition.
