How much do US citizens pay on health insurance?

I earn 拢24000 ($36000) a year in the UK and pay 20% tax. For this type of wage how much tax and then how much health insurance would a US citizen pay?

At $36000, your Federal tax rate would be 15%. There is also a state income tax in most states.

Health insurance costs vary widely. Some employers pay 100% of the cost, others only part, and some none at all. If you have to buy insurance on your own, the cost depends on your age, health history and how much coverage you want. If you have any significant pre-existing conditions, most insurance companies will simply refuse to insure you, in which case you're out of luck.

Depends. It varies according to risk factors, previous illnesses, family history and the amount of cover and excess someone will pay.

FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.

FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

I pay 900 dollars a month for Cobra, comprehensive coverage, insurance- without Cobra it would be nearly twice as much and I'm single and presently unemployed owing to knee surgeries. I also have to fight the worker's compensation system with my lawyer in the hopes of getting some recompense for on the job injuries in the construction field over 30 years. It's a shockingly bad system we have here. When something serious happens workers are frequently denied "rights" by a well funded, insurance company's lobbying efforts. I should also mention that I am 55 years old. Younger people pay far less.

My insurance is paid for by my company. They pay 100% for a single. A family on our plan pays $300 a month. We have co-pays when you go to the office of $25 each. I may go to the doctor 1 to 3 times a year.

It depends. My insurance is $420 per month, however my employer pays this.

I pay $13.00 US per week for health insurance.
