I need surgery on my shoulder but I have no health insurance what should I do? It hurts like hell...? Just have it. The hospital, no matter which one you go to receives federal funding so legally they cannot turn any patients away based on their inability to pay. That being said, speak with the account representatives at the hospital you plan on having the surgery at and discuss the different payment options. They will work with you to decide on an affordable amount. But make sure you go to a doctor and make sure they decide that surgery is the only available option. You need to see a doctor if you haven't already. Don't try home treatments as another user suggested. If you have a serious injury you could end up with more expensive and more painful injuries resulting from the non-treatment of the first injury. Source(s): Nursing student There are hospitals (especially community ones) that will set you up on a payment plan if you don't have insurance. Call around to your local hospitals and ask their policy on surgery without insurance. the doctor that diagnosed you and suggested surgery can also suggest a way to have surgery without the expense well my opinion is get all u can if u work. u can get ur parents to help u out if they really do care 4 u. Are you in a low income bracket? If so you could apply for state medical insurance. If you are in a higher income bracket you can call your insurance agent and ask about different health insurance plans they offer, just look for "pre-existing" condition clauses. apply for medical assistance ask about Hill-Burton act application at hosp. apply for charity care at hosp. |
