What kind of help can person receive who does not have health insurance.? |
Our daughter who is almost 40 quit her job two months ago and now has no health insurance. We are not drs. but we think she is on the road to destruction since she spends her time drinking and really goes off the deep end. There is no reasoning with her. Are there any "free" treatment centers for people who need help. We are not able to help her. Look in your phone book or talk with community members about your local mental health center. They usually offer sliding fee programs. Try looking for an al-anon meeting for yourself as well, because she will not be willing to seek help unless she is ready and wants it.Al-anon helps friends and loved ones of those with drinking problems, and they might be able to direct you to help if you begin attending meetings. The mental health center may be able to direct you to resources for yourselves as well. Check into your local community government and find out if they have a listing for local social services. "Free" is hard to come by, but "help" is there. Take care of yourselves as well. Medicaid is for people who are indigent, have children and/or a disability. It is worth looking in to. Source(s): I'm a therapist and recovering alcoholic. I also have parents who tried to help me. charitycare or medicaid Medicaid. Charity Assistance. I am going to assume that since you are on Yahoo Canada that you are asking about here. I have the same problems as your daughter. No Ins etc. There are many mental health services that she can access that are free. Your local hospital will have a list of places she can get help free. Also Dr's offices, If you live in Canada, there is also free medication available. You can also apply to Social Services for help. Also the Medical Insurance Plans will cover you if you apply for temporary assistance. Also check with the Local Mental Health Society. BUT!!! If she goes to the hospital she can get help right away. They can't deny you medical help even without Insurance. |
