I do have a glucometer and a big supply of test strips and lancets from being on pregnancy medical - but that ends in three months - I have about a year of supplies. Our family budget eats up about all of the $1200. Although our work is somewhat seasonal and sometimes we make up to $2100 I just can't be sure we have an extra $500/mo to buy health ins. premiums (that doesn't cover hardly anything)....when the extra income is not guaranteed. We are RARELY sick so I don't even see the point There's got to be a more reasonable plan. I have really focused on getting a garden going this year and trying to cook more at home. But what else can I do to make sure I am healthy, w/o health insurance, as a prediabetic/or possibly type 2 diabetic (I was diagnosed during pregnancy but have had these symptoms for the last 10 years so i want to continue to monitor my blood sugar.) what did you do, if you are in this same situation? Please don't tell me to eat whole grains - I am allergic.
The only thing I can suggest is to try applying for state aid for your medical insurance. You may or or may not be eligible depending on your averaged income, number of dependents and probably the state you live in. If you are eligible, that could free up some of your cash. |
