How can I get Health Care without Insurance??

My boyfriend and I are responsible, working people who have enough money to pay for a doctor's visit and medication but who cannot afford health insurance payments every month. As far as I know, there are NO doctors who see you without health insurance. I know about Urgent Care places, have waited in lines with underprivileged children and it's not the place for us. Does anyone have any advice that would lead us to a - doctor's - care?

If you can pay for it in full at the time of the visit, they will see you. Almost all of them take cash, checks, debit and credit cards. A lot of them even offer discounts to cash payers now, since they have to wait so long for the person's insurance to cut them a check. You can see any doctor you want if you can pay for it.

We don't have insurance either, my hubby and I both work for small businesses. I was worried about not having it at first, because I had always had it until about 3 years ago, but we are spending less now just paying when we go than we would be paying premiums. We are looking into hospitalization and catastrophic illness policies, but I'll never throw my money away again on premiums just for office visits and drugs. It only makes sense if you have a chronic condition.
Try your local family practice center..they offer discounted services to those without insurance.
you pay out your pocket
You're in a Catch 22. You have income that is above poverty level. There is no such thing as Middle Class anymore. But that's another subject. If you have an ongoing illness that requires you to take medication you take on a regular basis, there are Pharmaceutical companies that will supply this for free. Most all of the Large ones are involved in this program. For basic medical care, there are Doctor's who will accept cash patients. You have to pay in full at each visit unless you have worked out arrangements prior. If you have no insurance most fees are done on a sliding scale. But again, it depends on your household income and the number of people in your household. Have you contacted your local Human Resource to see what the guidelines are? Also, contact your local Health Department. They are the ones who can direct you towards any programs. Do you have any underage children? If so, they would qualify for the Healthy Start program. That is a good program that President Clinton started. Parents can work at a decent wage and still receive health care for their children. In some cases they will be covered as well. I hope I have helped you. Something has to be done about our Health Care System.
There are many doctors who will see you without insurance. Most hospitals are non-profit organizations and will treat people regardless of ability to pay. Many hospitals have outpatient facilities where you can go to get treated when you have a cold. For more serious problems you should go to the ER. Non-profit hospitals will usually have a foundation, an organization that raises money for the hospital and it's patients. If you needed assistance with a bill they would be the one's to ask.
