Acl sprain- how do I repair it at home? No health Insurance!?


I did manage to get a brace though. I need to get my knee back in shape. It has been sprained since March 1st. Any help would be appreicated.

How do you know it is just a sprain and that you injured the ACL? The best you can do is rest the knee for 4-6 wks to allow it to heal. The brace is probably rather useless in stabilizing the knee unless there are metal bars on the sides. Make sure you are keeping your quad muscle from shutting down by tightening the muscle with your leg straight out in front of you and pushing the back of your knee down. Hold for 10 seconds and do it 10 times. Do this daily for the next 2 wks. Also make sure the knee doesnt stiffen up by trying to bend it fully several times a day. Go to a clinic. But put it in the brace and use crutches till you can slowly start putting weight on it.
Keep the brace on it and stay off of it as much as possible. Completely severed mine and it isn't fun having it repaired. You knee is weak and you have to be careful. The slightest turn can make it pop out of place. It is just like a sprain on the ankle, you have to really baby it. Get a brace that keeps the knee straight and in correct position if you already haven't. If it persists I would go seek medical help....
The same thing happened to me. My physio gave me 4 stretches to do. The stretches were Hamstring, Calf, Hip Flexor, and Hip/Glute Stretch. If you dont know how to do these then just search them up. Make sure you hold the stretches for a minimum of 30 seconds. The reason for the stretches is that your knee (if your muscles are tight) depends on these muscles to work but if the muscles are to tight they put stress on the knee making it more prone to injury. As well she told me to do single legged squats to strengthen the muscles that support the knee.
