What is the role of omega 3 in heart disease?

What is the role of omega 3 in heart disease?

Much has been said about Omega 3, now I available as pills in most countries, BUT it's under trial, it can be preventive in nature, that's seen in fishermen, they have the least % of HTN and cardiac problem. No idea about washing out of coronaries as no text book has recommended it.

It provides a healthy fat for our bodies function instead of animal fats that clog our arteries.

I believe it is also beneficial in auto immune disorders.

it may possibly lower the cholesterol levels (LDL) and increase the good cholesterol HDL. my DR said it couldn't hurt to take it and it may do some good.

蠅鈭? fatty acids (commonly spelled omega-3 fatty acids) are a family of polyunsaturated fatty acids which have in common a carbon-carbon double bond in the 蠅鈭? position.

On September 8, 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave "qualified health claim" status to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) 蠅鈭? fatty acids, stating that "supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA 蠅鈭? fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

I hope it helps!

The conservative AHA( American Heart Association) recommends taking 900 mgr daily of omega 3 fatyy acids. That is equivalente to about 3 grams of fish oil per day(normal 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA capsules).

Reasons Why Fish Oil is Essential for our Hearts:

1-The triglycerides go down, as much as 30-50%, subject to the amount of fish oil taken.
2-Blood clots are less prone to form, anti platelet aggregation, blood is less sticky.
Blood pressure drops slightly.
3-Improves circulation to all parts of the body. Specially important as we age.
Heart beat is more stable, less prone to arrhythmias, sudden cardiac arrhythmia(death) is reduced a much as 50%.
4-Inflammation, a marker of aging, is reduced in all the circulatory system, making the endothelium( the inner layer of the arteries) less inflammated, less prone to injuries and obstructions, that is, less heart attacks, less strokes.
5-Rises HDL Cholesterol (Good cholesterol).

My recommendation is if you are thin and in excellent health take 3 grams per day. If you are overweight, have high blood pressure, high triglycerides or diabetes, take at least 6 grams initially.
