People on the Greek Island of Crete eat a lot of fat in their diet, but have very low rates of heart disease.?

This is likely due to the fact that the fats they consume largely

come from red meat.
are unsaturated fats.
are saturated fats.
are trans fats.

in mediterranean diets, olive oil makes up for most of the fats they consume. olive oil is a monounsaturated fat so i would say the answer is unsaturated fats. hope this helps!

They also drink alot of alcohol, which would kill any viruses or bacteria. :)

are unsaturated fats

To some degree - all of the above. But the important fact is that they have a balanced diet that includes herbs, lemon, vinegar, lots of fresh local vegetables and fruit. They also have an active lifestyle. The intake combined with exercise and copious amounts of olive oil, wine and spirits, along with eating the right foods at the the right time of year is also a major contributor, along with less obvious stress.
