Is there a bright future for children born with heart defects such as congenital heart disease?

Any graphs or statisics with sources would be helpful so that I can get a wider view to my research.

My child has a heart called AV canal defect and has had 4 open heart surgeries (two of which has been mitral valve replacements) He also has severe pulmonary hypertension related to the heart defect. By looking at him you would think he is a healthy child (except he wears oxygen 24 7). He is very happy and does not let this get him down. Its been a long road because they are more prone getting sick so you cannot take them many places.
This is just my experience but my child has followed his own path.
They can have bright futures but sometimes it takes a while to get there .

i would like to know too, my daughter has congenital heart disease; V.S.D ventrical septic defect, and P.S pulmonary stenosis.

Over the past few decades, there's been a revolution in caring for children with congenital heart defects. Advances in diagnosis and surgery have made it possible to fix or repair most defects, even those once thought to be hopeless. Many people with these defects are now reaching adulthood and living full, active lives.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! My son was born with a CHD called Tetralogy of Fallot and has had 2 open-heart surgeries, he is only 2 years old and is and has been doing FANTASTIC!!!! Some defects are worse/ more severe than others but I know MANY parents of children living with CHD and many that have CHD angels. CHD is the #1 birth defect in America affecting 1 out of every 125 births and is the number 1 birth defect resulting in infant death. Medical technology is improving and we are finding better and more improved ways to save our heart children but CHD is so under/in diagnosed it is unbelieveable. Many children are not diagnosed until they are deathly ill or worse - dead. Some of us are fortunate enough to learn of our childs CHD ealry enough for surgery and or intervention but alot are not. So it really depends. The ONLY way to help this problem is through CHD AWARENESS!!! If more people knew of this devastating defect more people would donate towards research and more children would have a brighter future.
