People with heart disease: Do you have shortness of breath?

I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at 18 (3 years ago) and lately have been having shortness of breath...it's starting to irritate me and also I take high blood pressure medicine...I have an appt. with my doctor next week but just wanted to hear anyone's suggestions or opinions please? Thanks for your time.

I also have a heart murmur.

I am slightly older than you (59) but I have high blood pressure, diabetes and I am overweight. Yes I have shortness of breath. You don't say if you are overweight on top of your other problems. If you are overweight, than you are going to have to start losing it. For yourself. Don't care what other people have to say. You have to want to live.

Hello,
I'm so sorry you have to deal w/this @so young an age. You didn't provide enough info to give an opinion. Why were you in CHF? Which valve is causing the murmur, & how bad was the echo? The good indication here, is that your Doctor isn't worried. If he/she thought you were going into failure again. You wouldn't be put off for a week. If your shortness of breath worsens, your weight increases (fluid retention: check your ankles), &/or you feel chest discomfort. Call them back, & tell them. You can be short of breath for a lot of reasons. I hope you feel better soon.

I have not had CHF but my Mom and Dad are and yes they have have shortness of breath because it is one of the biggest symptoms concerning CHF

it could be the blood preasure medication that is a side effect of alot of them

Mine went away, but was caused by infections and injury to a heart valve. Try not to aggravate it if you can.

Call the doctor and tell him about it, don't wait.
