If heart disease affects men and women at equal rates, why is it that most diet commercials are aimed at women? |
Inspired by: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... I mean, if men are the ones really suffering from heart disease, why is it that all the "Lean Cuisine" and "Crystal Light" commercials are aimed at females? Femi is an idiot. Because feminism reduced the utility of women in the eyes of men to mere sexual objects. Whereas men once viewed women as the future mothers of their children and the harbingers of stable family life, they are now viewed as externalized entities with which a man cannot legitimately share his life. Consequently, women have been reduced to sexual objects. That is why they are pressured to achieve physical perception to compensate. It is therefore unsurprising that women would pursue mechanisms to achieve a better body (through dieting, gym memberships, organic foods, etc...). Because women do most of the food shopping. And women do most of the family food planning in the home. Lets face it, if it was up to men, our food shopping would not be the healthiest. and as far as dinner at home is concerned, Pizza's and Kentucky fired chicken, & chinese take out. Lean Cuisine knows you wouldn't plan on buying or eating their product - not for all the tea in China. because women are more self concious about their appearance than men and are more likely to buy what those commercials are selling. Commercials are different compared to what type of channel you're watching [i.e., Sports networks, there's Dan Marino that lost weight; on Lifetime, or women's networks, they show women in their adds]. Easy. There more women than men who would willingly regurgitate what they had for dinner just so they don't add those calories. Women care more about their body image and commercials just want to sell the product. More women go on diets than men. It wouldn't make sense to target an audience that had no use for your product. Because they are more preoccupied with external appearance and also generally are more responsible than males. Because women are concerned with their image more than their health. They buy more diet products. Really, really bad analogy though. |
